Hemis National Park is an ideal destination for wildlife enthusiasts. Located at an altitude of around 4,000 meters, the Rumbak Valley lies within the park’s boundaries and boasts a remarkable diversity of fauna. In addition, visitors can spot various bird species, including golden eaglesvultures, and a range of migratory birds.

The Snow Leopard Trek is one of the few treks in Ladakh that can be undertaken during the winter months, with February and March being the best time to go. Snow leopards, known for their elusive nature, are more likely to be spotted in winter when they descend into the valleys in search of prey. Hemis National Park serves as a prime habitat for these majestic cats, offering an abundant supply of prey and increasing the chances of a memorable sighting.
